Acupuncture

The practice of acupuncture has been used for centuries as a holistic form of medicine.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has recognized the effectiveness of acupuncture in the treatment of many conditions including acute injuries, arthritis, digestive disorders, respiratory disorders and headaches.

Here at Form & Function, we offer both Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture, and Medical Acupuncture.  Both methods are very effective in treating various dysfunctions.

Medical acupuncture respects our contemporary understanding of the physiology of pain and neuromuscular anatomy while incorporating the classical Chinese philosophy of an innate circulation network of energy called qi. It is a great method of encouraging the body to promote healing and restoring health and function

Contemporary Medical Acupuncture is a scientific refinement for the treatment of pain conditions, as well as performance and sports injuries. Research is ongoing to demonstrate that acupuncture has the following effects:

  • Promotes healing of the joints, nerves, muscles, and other soft tissues
  • Decreases pain and inflammation
  • Increases circulation and promotes tissue healing
  • Increases range of motion
  • Increases strength
