Q2: Why Would I Need Orthotics?

The feet and lower legs act as our shock absorption mechanism, functioning as the body’s suspension system. Everyday activities such as being on our feet or walking can place a lot of stress on our feet. Higher impact activities such as running and jumping put even more demand on the feet, up to 7 or 8 times our body weight! Therefore, it is vital to have optimal support through the use of custom orthotics.

Q4: What is the Process of Getting a Custom Orthotic?

Our Chiropody foot specialists at Form and Function in Markham will begin with a thorough assessment of your foot biomechanics and observe your gait (walking/running pattern). A 3D scan will be used to design your custom orthotics for a perfect fit. They will then be sent to the lab and will be ready for pick up in about 2-3 weeks. Our foot specialist uses multiple custom orthotic labs, but our primary lab we used is through Footmaxx, one of the top trusted custom orthotic and orthosis manufacture for premium orthotics in the world.

Ada is a registered Chiropodist with a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from the University of Toronto and advanced training from the Michener Institute in podiatric medicine. With expertise in biomechanics, orthotic therapy, nail surgery, and podopediatrics, she is a member of the College of Chiropodists of Ontario and several professional associations. Ada is passionate about early detection of foot issues in children and providing care for the geriatric population, addressing conditions like diabetes-related lesions and arthritis. Fluent in Cantonese, Ada enjoys hiking and baking in her free time and is excited to bring expert foot care to her patients.
